Hot Hands is built and operated by Mobi Network Designs Inc. ("MobiNet", "we", "us"). This policy describes what information we collect through the Hot Hands app and website, why we collect it, and how you can access, correct, or delete it.

Information we collect

Account information

When you register, we collect the email address you sign in with. Your account can optionally include a first and last name, cell phone number (collected ahead of a future SMS sign-in option — not used for anything yet), billing address, and time zone. Your password is never stored in plain text — only a securely hashed version that can't be reversed. System-generated passwords are emailed once at account creation and aren't kept anywhere after that.

Team, roster, and game data

Team admins and staff enter roster information for their team — player names, jersey numbers, positions, and handedness — and record in-game events (shots, goals, saves, faceoffs, penalties, and similar) during live tracking. This is the core data the app exists to collect: it's entered by coaching staff, not by the players themselves, and isn't linked to any player's own account (players don't have accounts in Hot Hands at all — only staff do).

Because youth and amateur hockey rosters often include players under 18, some of this roster data describes minors. It's provided by a coach or team admin who is themselves an adult account holder, not collected directly from a child using the app.

Billing information

Team subscriptions are billed through Square. When you add a card, Square's own hosted payment form tokenizes it directly in your browser — Hot Hands' servers never receive or store your card number, expiration date, or security code. We store only the opaque reference tokens Square gives us (a customer ID and a card ID) along with invoice and payment records (amounts, dates, and Square's own transaction IDs) needed to run your subscription and show you a billing history.

Technical information

Signing in sets a session cookie so you don't have to log in on every request. We don't use advertising or analytics SDKs, and we don't collect device identifiers, location, camera, contacts, or microphone data — the Android app requests no permissions beyond internet access.

How we use this information

  • To operate your account and team's access to Hot Hands (signing in, roles, permissions)
  • To run the stat-tracking and reporting features you're using the app for
  • To bill your team's subscription and show you invoices and payment history
  • To email you about your account — password resets, team invites, billing receipts

We don't use your information for advertising, and we don't sell it to anyone.

Who we share it with

Square processes payments and stores your payment method on our behalf, under its own privacy policy. We don't share your data with any other third party, and we don't use ad networks, analytics platforms, or data brokers.

We may disclose information if legally required to (for example, in response to a valid court order), or to protect the security of the service.

Security

Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords are hashed, never stored in plain text. Payment card data never touches our servers at all — Square handles it directly.

Your data, your control

You can update your account details, change your password, and manage your billing address from the Account page at any time.

You can permanently delete your account from that same page, under "Danger Zone." This removes your account and team memberships. If you're the only admin on a team, you'll need to promote someone else first — this keeps a team from being orphaned by one person's account deletion. Deleting your account doesn't delete your team's roster or game history, since that data belongs to the team, not to any one staff member's login.

You can also reach us from our Support page with any question about your data, or if you'd like help with something the Account page doesn't cover.

Data retention

We keep account and team data for as long as your account or team is active. If you delete your account, your account record is removed immediately. Team-level data (roster, schedule, game history) is retained for the team's benefit unless a team admin deletes it or retires and removes the team.

Changes to this policy

If we make a material change to what we collect or how we use it, we'll update this page and change the "Last updated" date above.
